Traditional Chinese medicine has used cinnamon for 1000s of years for both its medicinal qualities and flavoring. Cinnamon is used as an herb to promote health, increasing vitality, alleviating pain, and treating some types of abdominal pain and reduced appetite. It "warms and strengthens the kidney yang" so beneficial in cold hands and feet, cold knees and low back or pain that gets worse with cold. Current research is showing that that cinnamon can help control blood sugar making it potentially useful in the management of diabetes. I suggest starting low with maybe 1 teaspoon in your coffee, oatmeal or shake.
Just like any herbs, just because they are natural does not make them always safe especially in large doses. Consult your physician before starting any new herbs if you are on medication or have medical conditions.
